"Sweden and the EU need to invest more in AI"

In order for Sweden to be able to maintain its competitiveness in the future, we need to invest more in AI development and innovation. This insight was reinforced for IVA's Chair Marcus Wallenberg, who led IVA's delegation trip to Silicon Valley, where around thirty people from industry, startups, investors, academia and the public sector participated, in the presence of The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel, as well as Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell.

AI in focus when IVA delegation visits Silicon Valley

A delegation from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) visits Silicon Valley on February 19–22. Parts of the visit take place in the presence of DD.KK.HH. The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel. The goal is to increase cooperation opportunities between Silicon Valley and Sweden and, by extension, strengthen Sweden's position in digitization and AI.

A Tribute to the Memory of Victor & Erna Hasselblad

The images of man's first steps on the moon in 1969 are among the most iconic in the history of photography. The moment was immortalized with a "Hasselblad", a Swedish technical innovation whose name subsequently became more or less synonymous with the concept of the world's best camera.

IVA Fellow Anne L'Huillier awarded Nobel Prize

IVA Fellow Anne L'Huillier is awarded this year's Nobel Prize in Physics “for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter”. Anne L'Huillier, Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) since 2012, shares this year's Nobel Prize with Pierre Agostini and Ferenc Krausz.

IVA project expands collaboration between South Korea and Sweden

On 19-20 April, the 2023 Korea-Sweden R2B Forum will be held in South Korea's capital Seoul, a brand new meeting place for the utilisation and commercialisation of research in collaboration between Sweden's and South Korea's innovation systems. The concept is inspired by IVA's Research2Business initiative and IVA's 100 list, and IVA participates as a partner in the forum.

Regeringen ökar anslaget till IVAs ingenjörspraktik Tekniksprånget

Regeringen satsar på Tekniksprånget och föreslår i höstbudgeten att anslaget ska utökas med nio miljoner de kommande tre åren. Totalt innebär det ett statligt anslag på 18 miljoner per år. Tekniksprånget, som drivs av IVA sedan drygt tio år, erbjuder unga vuxna betald ingenjörspraktik i fyra månader hos arbetsgivare runt om i hela Sverige.

IVAs Guldmedalj 2019 - Daniel Ek och Martin Lorentzon

Styrelseordförande Daniel Ek och civilingenjör Martin Lorentzon tilldelas IVAs Guldmedalj för att ha skapat företaget Spotify som i grunden förändrat musikindustrin och stoppat piratkopieringen. De har som innovatörer och entreprenörer byggt ett av få (möjligen det enda) europeiska techbolag som lyckats mäta sig med kinesiska och amerikanska giganter.

IVAs Guldmedalj 2020 - Åsa Bergman

Kanske var det en tillfällighet att Sweco flyttade in när Svenska Dagbladet flyttade ut ur sitt höghus i Marieberg i Stockholm. Men byggnaden är ju ritad av den kände arkitekten, Anders Tengbom. Och även om Sweco:s ursprung kan spåras till slutet av 1800-talet, så blev Sweco till med startpunkt just i ett arkitektkontor. Konsultkoncernens verksamhet är sedan länge både bredare och mycket, mycket större.
