Joakim Nivre granted the Chester Carlson Research Award

Professor Joakim Nivre has been granted the Chester Carlson Research Award of 100,000 SEK for his innovative contributions to computational linguistics, his leadership in the research community, and his commitment to language technology through collaboration. The award has been granted since 1985 to promote scientific research in the field of information science.

How to apply for a scholarship from the Hans Werthén Foundation

Each scholarship is for a year of scientific work at the postdoc or doctoral candidate level, or for MBA or LL.M studies in an advanced international setting. We are currently accepting applications, with a deadline of 7 March 2025.

AI in focus when IVA delegation visits Silicon Valley

A delegation from the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) visits Silicon Valley on February 19–22. Parts of the visit take place in the presence of DD.KK.HH. The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel. The goal is to increase cooperation opportunities between Silicon Valley and Sweden and, by extension, strengthen Sweden's position in digitization and AI.

Report: Circular flows to meet increased demand for metals and minerals

Waste is used too little as a resource to contribute to sustainable and secure access to critical metals and minerals. This is one of the conclusions of a new report that emphasizes the importance of developing circular systems, as the major societal challenges cannot be solved solely by increased use of primary resources from mining.

"Sweden and the EU need to invest more in AI"

In order for Sweden to be able to maintain its competitiveness in the future, we need to invest more in AI development and innovation. This insight was reinforced for IVA's Chair Marcus Wallenberg, who led IVA's delegation trip to Silicon Valley, where around thirty people from industry, startups, investors, academia and the public sector participated, in the presence of The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel, as well as Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell.
