IVA’s Entrepreneurship Academy

IVA's Entrepreneurship Academy works with exchange of experiences, knowledge acquisition and policy development to promote and strengthen entrepreneurship and stimulate more entrepreneurs in Sweden. In practice the project aims to increase knowledge about entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial abilities and contribute to improving policy and regulations.

Research2Business (R2B)

With its Research2Business (R2B) project IVA wants to support Sweden’s efforts to become a leader in turning academic research into innovation and competitiveness in business and industry. The goal is to strengthen and increase collaboration between university research and businesses to mutually benefit all actors. R2B is responsible for, among other things, compiling IVA’s 100-list, which will be published for the sixth time in 2024, and organizing the annual R2B Summit.

Future Knowledge Society

Future Knowledge Society is a long-term project aimed at encouraging children and young people to enjoy learning, while at the same time strengthening young people’s ability to evaluate information and make science-based decisions.

In the mid-1940s, Edy Velander, IVA’s legendary President, initiated global monitoring of technical  developments. Velander appointed a “liaison officer” in New York tasked with spotting trends and reporting back on technological progress and innovation. The world’s first “technology attaché” had been introduced.

Third Swede in space important door opener

IVA member Anna Rathsman is present when Marcus Wandt takes off from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on Wednesday to become Sweden's third astronaut in space. In her role as Director General of the Swedish National Space Agency, Anna Rathsman has been the spider in the web to make everything work. The mission could be a door opener for tomorrow's engineers and space researchers.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) awards this year's gold medals to Anne L'Huillier, Gerteric Lindquist, Bo Normark and Xiaodong Zou. They receive the award for their outstanding contributions to technology, economics, business and society. IVA's Gold Medal has been awarded since 1921.

Report: Challenges for meeting increased demand for metals and minerals

Sylvia Schwaag Serger new president of IVA

Today, the Assembly of the Academy decided to appoint Sylvia Schwaag Serger as the new president of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). Sylvia Schwaag Serger is a professor at the School of Economics, University of Lund, and since 2019 an elected fellow of IVA's Division Education and Research Policy.
